And there was no soldering but the parts attached to the circuit board with screws. There seemed to be no volume control (!) and it was offered without any internal or external speaker but would accept ear buds. ![]() The pictures showed that the little radio did not have a tuning dial, but just a blank knob for tuning. First off, the price of around $150 for an AM receiver kit seemed quite high. Yes, the website description raised a lot of questions. I immediately ordered one, I just could not help myself. Finally, a few months ago (in the latter part of 2015) I saw an announcement for their first new kit since 1992 - the GR-150 Explorer Jr. But in 2012, on their website, they announced they were going to restructure and kits would come back. Most of us thought Heath kits would never return. With that announcement decades of kit building came to an end. In 1992, the Heathkit Company announced that they would no longer make kits.
